Fifa President Gianni Infantino helps Africa open development office in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa is the tenth office to be opened by Fifa, after the Caribbean office last year

Ethiopia’s Minister of Youth and Sport, Ato Ristu Yirdaw together with Fifa President Gianni Infantino performed the official opening ceremony in the presence of Football Federation Presidents from the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa).

“It feels very good because it’s another step in the right direction showing that Fifa wants to be at the service of football. The office in Addis Ababa shows that we are serious to develop football in the region,” Infantino told Goal in an interview.

Caf President Ahmad Ahmad and Fifa Secretary General Fatma Samoura also attended the function.
