The Special Elite Forces-Danab Commandos of the Somali National Army (SNA) in collaboration with Jubaland Dervish forces have successfully taken control of Kudhaa town, as announced by Jubaland authorities on Thursday. According to an official statement issued by Jubaland authorities, the allied troops have effectively eliminated the presence of Al-Shabab, who had taken control of the town the previous day. The statement also mentions that the allied troops launched attacks from multiple directions in Kudhaa, where the militant fighters had been in control for 24 hours. However, a statement from Somalia’s Ministry of Defense has also been released, announcing that their security forces have eliminated Al-Shabab’s presence in Kudhaa town in the Lower Jubba region. The ministry reports that a heavy defeat was inflicted on Al-Shabab fighters, resulting in the deaths of over 130 militants and injuries to many others after armed clashes. The statement also confirms that the allied troops have seized combat vehicles that the Al-Shabab fighters had fled in.
