China welcomes the ban Somalia imposed on Taiwanese passport holders entry into Somalia

China has commended the ban that Somalia imposed on travelers who hold Taiwanese passports are not allowed entry into Somalia while Somalia believes that Taiwan is part and parcel of the People’s Republic of China.

The Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Goa Jiakum, held a press conference and said: “The decision of Mogadishu represents Somalia’s adamant stance on the unity of China in which China lauded.”

He went on to say that there is only one China in the world.

He added that Taiwan is an important part and parcel of the People’s Republic of China.

He said by underlining that the UN Resolution 2758 ensures Chinese stance.

China also recognizes Somaliland to be part and parcel of the territory of Somalia.

He strongly supported the efforts of the Somali Federal Gov’t which are aimed to protect the national unity and the territorial integrity of Somalia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan strongly opposed the ban that Somalia imposed on travelers holding Taiwanese passports are not allowed to enter Somalia.

Taiwan said that Chinese government pressurized Somalia to issue the ban placed on Taiwanese passport holders from entering Somalia.

On the other hand, the Chinese embassy in Mogadishu strongly supported the step taken by Somalia authority in which Somalia complied with one China policy.
