Reports say that an airstrike was conducted targeting Al-shabab militants stationed in Biyo Adde settlement in Middle Shabelle province.
Biyo Adde lies 40 km East of Jawhar, the administrative seat of Hirshabelle state.
The settlement is one of the areas that the militant group of Al-Shabab seized for the last two months.
Reports further say that the war planes carried airstrikes targeting Al-Shabab militants stationed in Biyo Adde settlement.
The spokesman of the ministry of defense, Abuukar Ma’alin Mohamud yesterday confirmed that airstrikes were conducted against the militant group of Al-Shabab while they were reading lessons for misguidance.
The spokesman further told that Biyo Adde local residents shared the information about the militants with the Somali National Army (SNA) and airstrikes were conducted.
He said: “More than 20 Al-Shabab militants were killed. The rest fled from Biyo Adde settlement.”
The spokesman did not give information regarding a war plane that bombarded Al-shabab militants who were mobilizing in an area between Biyo Adde and Aqab Duco settlements.
Reports indicate that Al-Shabab militants were planning to launch an onslaught against Aqab Duco settlement.
The local forces were conducting operations against Al-Shabab militants in the outskirts of Aqab Duco.
