U.S. Africa Command Carries out Airstrike on ISIS Target in Somalia

U.S. Africa Command in conjunction with the Somali Federal Gov’t on Monday carried out airstrike targeting against ISIS militant group that is stationed in Puntland.

The airstrike is part of an ongoing efforts which are aimed to dismantle the group’s operational capabilities.

The airstrike took place in an area that is 70 km Southeast of Bosaso in Bari region.

The operation is still underway, and the assessment of the extent of damage inflicted on ISIS militant is underway in order to meet the goals of the operation.

The biggest goal of the airstrike was to support the security forces on the ground who are engaged war with ISIS which is aimed to wipe out ISIS fighters from the region.

The Somali Federal Gov’t showed that it is satisfied with the strong cooperation that Somalia has with world governments particularly the United States pertaining to the fight against terrorist group, and the efforts which are aimed to restore stability in Somalia and the region.
