The Commander of the Somaliland National Army, Brigadier General Nimcaan Yusuf Gaaxnuug, received the “Gaashaan” National Army team—who achieved success in the Hargeisa International Half Marathon (21km)—at his General Headquarters office today. The Commander congratulated the athletes on their achievements in the race, specifically commending runner Fu’aad Siciid, who secured first place. Other members of the Gaashaan team also achieved high rankings; the male runners took 3rd, 4th, and 5th places, while the female athletes secured 1st and 2nd places. The Army Commander stated that sports within the National Army—particularly the various sporting disciplines—would be further developed to enhance the athletes’ capabilities and achieve positive results in the future.
Finally, the Commander offered words of encouragement and guidance, urging the athletes to maintain their dedication and training in order to achieve further successes while representing the National Army and Somaliland. The Commander also thanked the athletes for the effort they demonstrated and the victory they brought to the Somaliland National Army.
