Staff from Hargeisa Water Agency arrived in Tel Aviv for a high-level training.

HARGEISA–On Monday, the Hargeisa Water Agency officially confirmed that 25 of its staff members were selected to attend a high-level training on science and water management in Israel. The scholars arrived in Tel Aviv on Monday and were received by Israeli government officials. The agency stated that these staff members were chosen for their special experience and are expected to greatly benefit from the training. Additionally, the agency mentioned that the training will play a crucial role in the development and improvement of water services in Hargeisa town upon their return to Somaliland. Israel is known as one of the most advanced countries in the Middle East in terms of water and agriculture. During the recognition of Israel to the Republic of Somaliland, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to support Somaliland in the areas of water and agriculture. On December 26, 2025, Israel became the first UN member state to officially recognize the Republic of Somaliland. According to current Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro, Israel and Somaliland will sign agreements and partnerships to support Somaliland in the areas of water, mineral, oil production, and technology.
