The minister stated that the Southwest administration is planning airstrikes and operations against Al-Shabaab, warning the public against remaining in or near locations where Laftagareen’s forces and the militant group are present.

“We are targeting Al-Shabaab militants in Southwest regions with airstrikes. We call on the public to stay away from areas where these groups are located,” said Isaaq Mohamed.

The minister added that civilians need to exercise caution, particularly in areas with military activity and locations occupied by groups opposed to the government.

This warning comes amidst political and security tensions in the Southwest region between the new administration—backed by the federal government—and factions supporting Abdiaziz Laftagareen, while Al-Shabaab continues to operate in parts of the regions under the administration’s jurisdiction. The minister also stated that the government and security forces are prepared to take military action against Al-Shabaab, urging the public to stay away from areas identified as military targets.
