Yesterday, Somaliland’s Minister of Internal Security, Mr. Abdalle Mohamed Arab, held a meeting in Hargeisa with a high-level UK delegation including officials from the UK office in Somaliland, UK embassy officials in Somalia, and a representative from UK’s defense ministry.
The meeting centered on strengthening the security cooperation between Somaliland and the UK while Minister Abdalle outlined key plans that his ministry intends to reorganize and modernize the security agencies in Somaliland.
He highlighted the significance that the two sides cooperate in the fight against terrorism, the prevention of security threats in the region, and the development of the operational capabilities of security agencies in Somaliland, a statement from the ministry of internal security said.
Meanwhile, the minister presented key plans and priorities of Somaliland’s National Operations Command Center (SL-NOCC)-which is a center designed in coordinating security agencies in the country, intelligence sharing, managing and responding to emergency situations and enhancing the capabilities of responding to security threats.
UK officials hailed the ongoing plans in reorganizing and modernizing the responsibilities of the internal security ministry, further pledging their support in the efforts to develop the security system and upgrade the operational capabilities of Somaliland’s security agencies.
In conclusion, the two sides emphasized to further strengthen the strategic security cooperation, further pledging their commitment in developing the collaboration in the areas of security, stability and the interests of Somaliland and the UK.
