Somaliland receives Astrazeneca vaccines

SL Minister of Health on Tuesday announced that it received the first 65000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines through the COVAX program. The minister tweeted that it was a great step towards controlling the spread of the Coronavirus in the country. Frontline health workers will be among the priority to be inoculated. The minister lauded the efforts of UNSOM, UNICEF, Somalia and head of British Office in Hargeisa, Stuart Brown, for ensuring the speed delivery of the Astrazeneca vaccines. Stuart Brown congratulated SL for the vaccines and commended the leadership of Omar Ali Abdilahi, the minister of health for the well done job. He affirmed that the UK has contributed 750 Million US dollars to the Global Covax facility that facilitated the delivery of the vaccines to Somaliland. Earlier Somaliland ministry of health launched new health survey in the country due to the outbreak of second wave of Covid-19 in the country. The survey is aimed at discovering the degree of the virus pandemic in Somaliland. The survey is collaborated between SL health ministry together with WHO.
