Somaliland: President meets former Kenya’s PM Raila Odinga

Somaliland President Musa Bihi Abdi who is on an official working visit to Nairobi has met with former Kenyan PM, Raila Odinga who is a staunch supporter of Somaliland’s case for statehood.

The former Kenyan PM and currently serving as the African Union Representative for Infrastructure development.

President Bihi has said that it is a great pleasure to have a meeting with the nation’s great friend and discussed issued pertaining to development as well as the progress of the region.

Raila has been among the top politicians in the African continent who has persistently called on the governments to recognize Hargeisa, arguing SL will help stabilize the region.

Raila said: “Your excellency president Musa Bihi Abdi, minister from Somaliland, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, Asalamu Alaykum Warahmatulahi Wa barakatu. We are delighted to receive our guest from the Horn of Africa- Somaliland. This is indeed a historic occasion when for the first time, a leader from that emerging country has been invited to come and visit our country. Welcome once again your excellency.”

Raila Odinga delivered a public lecture at Chatham House London last year.

He said that he was a strong supporter of full recognition of the republic of Somaliland.
