In a significant step toward advancing educational development, the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Public Works, Land, and Housing signed a historic memorandum of cooperation today in Hargeysa.

The agreement, formalized by Minister Prof. Ismail Duale Yusuf and Minister Hon. Hussein Ahmed Aydiid, aims to revolutionize educational infrastructure through a World Bank-funded initiative. The signing ceremony, held at the Ministry of Education’s headquarters, marks a pivotal moment for Somaliland’s education sector.

The agreement prioritizes the construction of modern, high-quality educational facilities that meet international standards, ensuring safe and conducive learning environments for students. The World Bank’s Project Implementation Unit (PIU) was present, underscoring their role in overseeing the project’s execution and maintaining rigorous quality standards.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to transforming education in Somaliland,” said Prof. Ismail Duale Yusuf. “By working together, we will create state-of-the-art facilities that empower our youth and strengthen our nation’s future.”

Hon. Hussein Ahmed Aydiid echoed this sentiment, stating, “Our collaboration ensures that every new school or learning center will be built to last, meeting the needs of our communities and adhering to global benchmarks.”

This initiative aligns with Somaliland’s broader vision to enhance educational access and quality, fostering opportunities for the next generation. The project is expected to roll out swiftly, with both ministries pledging close coordination to deliver tangible results.
