Somaliland: Labor & Social Affairs Ministry Launches a Project to support 32,000 Families

Somaliland government has inaugurated new project which is expected to be benefited by more than 32, 000 families. The project will be implemented by the Labor & Social Affairs Ministry and will be funded by the World Bank.

The project is dubbed Safety Net for Human Capital and its implementation will take for a year. Underprivileged families living in Haysimo, Sarar, Selal and Gebiley provinces will be most beneficial. It is confirmed by Somaliland authorities that after 2020, the ministry will be carrying out the project independently. Abdirashid Ibrahim, the Director General of Labor & Social Affairs Ministry has expressed optimism on the success of the project.  He reiterated that it will be of great help to the public.

National Planning & Development Minister, Hassan Gafadhi, in his remarks said that the project should not only assist people with food but how they could remain independent and run their own business. The Labor & Social Affair Minister, Ms. Hinda Gani that the project will be most beneficial to residents that have been hard him by the last drought in Somaliland. It will be part of the ministry’s efforts to assist low income families in the country.
