Somalia’s National Independent Election Commission Certifies five political organizations

Somalia’s National Independent Election Commission on Tuesday has accredited and certified five political organizations ahead of the June, 2025 local council polls in Somalia. This was disclosed by the Chairman of the National Independent Election Commission, Mr. Abdikarim Ahmed Hassan, who held a press conference in Mogadishu. He revealed that five political organizations have fulfilled the criteria that the Election Commission set for political organizations to qualify in order to participate the local council polls.

Mr. Abdikarim has said that political organizations have started to register their supporters. He urged the political organizations in the pipeline to register as soon as possible. He stated that the country’s politics is between the government officials and the political organizations. He said: ” Somali politics is between the registered political organizations. They are the real stakeholders of Somalia’s politics. They will participate the upcoming local council polls.” The Chairman of the Election Commission, Abdikarim Ahmed Hassan has urged the Somali populace to elect their representatives so that they must be held accountable. He pointed out that the public will not welcome those who do not have the support of the public.
