MOGADISHU– The Minister of Internal Security of Somalia’s Federal Gov’t has accused the regional president of Jubaland of being an obstacle to wipe out Al-Shabab from the Jubba River. Mr. Abdilahi Ismail Fartag took an example of the attack that troops loyal to Ahmed Madobe launched an attack against Somali troops based in Raskamboni which is located 300 km from Kismayo. The minister was flabbergasted how it was possible for Jubaland troops to cross from Al Shabab stronghold.
The minister said that the Federal Gov’t of Somalia issued an arrest warrant for the leader of Jubaland who is accused of guilty of crimes against humanity as the minister put it. Mr. Fartag accused Ahmed Madobe of being responsible for the recent confrontations that took place in Bardhere whereby Jubaland troops clashed with Somali National Army based there. He said: ” We did not clap Ahmed Madobe as the leader of Jubaland. I was his vice president. He must take heed to government orders. Ahmed Madobe breached the norms of governance and he became a renegade. We must fight against him.:
The Minister is currently on inspection tour to Gedo region, and said that we are in a position to coordinate our efforts to fight against Ahmed Madobe. He said that there were number of residents in Bardhere who voiced their grievances and that would be addressed urgently. The conflict between Somalia’s Federal Gov’t and Jubaland escalated as the regional leader of Jubaland held presidential elections where the Federal Gov’t staunchly opposed that as it intended to hold one man one vote in the country.
