Somalia’s Defense Ministry Spokesman gives full details of the latest operations

The Spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Somalia has spoken about the latest operations carried out by Somali troops in Middle Shabelle province. The spokesman has held a press conference while stationed in the frontlines. He gave full details of the airstrikes targeting Al-Shabab hideouts in Sabiib and Caanolle in Lower Shabelle region. He said that heavy casualties were inflicted on Al-Shabab militants although he did not disclose the number of deaths and injuries. He revealed that the Somali troops successfully took control of Sabiib and Caanoole in Lower Shabelle region. He went on to say that the security forces have conducted operations which are aimed at bolstering the security and neutralizing the threat posed by Al-Shabab militants. The defense ministry spokesman said: ” We are not turning back until we flush out Al-Shabab from the country. Somali troops are in control of Sabiib and Caanoole.”

The second operation occurred in Ceelgub in Middle Shabelle region, the Somali troops killed 30 Al-Shabab militants. The Spokesman went on to say that a third operation took place in Buud Caduur which is under the administration of Adan yabal district in Middle Shabelle province. He said that local Ma’awisley forces have killed 2 Al-Shabab fighters sand confiscated their weapons. Tension is reported to be running high where Somali troops clashed with Al-Shabab militants. Local residents have confirmed the movement of troops. They have said that it is likely that a fighting will erupt between Al-Shabab and Somali troops.
