Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said his government had expelled Iranian diplomats and closed Iran’s embassy in Mogadishu for spreading Shiism, Caasimada Online reported on Thursday.
Mohamud told a conference of pro-government religious scholars in the capital that security agencies had suspended operations of two Iranian organizations: Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation and the Iranian Red Crescent after the national spy agency received information that both organizations were involved in spreading Shiism in Somalia.
