Somalia begins to repatriate its nationals stranded overseas

Somalia has evacuated its citizens stranded in three countries due to the lockdown of Covid-19. The ministry of foreign affairs has said that the Somali government is committed to repatriate its nationals stuck in overseas. The ministry further stated that Somali citizens who are to be repatriated must ensure their safety and that they are free from Covid-19. The permanent secretary of the foreign ministry, Mohamed Ali Nur Haji, told the press that the Somali government is desirous to bring its nationals stranded in abroad back to Somalia. The Somali embassies in Kenya, Turkey and Pakistan have arranged the repatriation flights. Two planes were 114 passengers onboard have landed in Mogadishu and Garowe as part of the evacuation plans.
