Jubaland security forces, along with the Somali National Army (SNA), specifically the Danab Commandos, carried out a security operation in the areas between Afmadow and Hagar in the Lower Jubba region over the past 24 hours. The operation targeted members of the militant group Al-Shabab, resulting in the successful elimination of several members and the capture of others. The main objective of the operation was to reopen the strategic road linking Afmadow and Bu’ale, which had been under the control of Al-Shabab. Additionally, intense operations have been launched in the outskirts of Hagar, where the haud area has been a major obstacle for troops. Over the past two weeks, Jubaland security forces have intensified their offensives against Al-Shabab, with the aim of liberating strategic areas, particularly the Bu’ale district, which is the group’s main stronghold. The Somali troops, along with Jubaland security forces, are working to fully eliminate the extremist group and restore security and law and order in the entire Lower Jubba region. Meanwhile, drones owned by international partners with the collaboration of the Somali Federal Government, conducted intense airstrikes targeting several areas in the Harardheere district of the Mudug region. The airstrikes specifically targeted centers belonging to Al-Shabab in Faarah Adan, Carfuuda Tabar-Mooge, and Miiraan areas, resulting in the destruction of positions and vehicles that the group had set up. Reports indicate that the group was planning to use these vehicles for explosive attacks. An SNA officer stated that the operation was tactfully planned and executed, targeting crucial centers owned by Al-Shabab. The details of casualties resulting from the airstrikes are currently unknown.
