The Somali National Army, specifically-the elite special force trained for counterterrorism operations-Danab Commandos reportedly carried out a planned security operation in Farsooley area in Lower Shabelle region, targeting members of the militant group of Al-Shabab.
According to the statement, 15 members of the militant group of Al-Shabab were successfully eliminated, while 20 others suffered catastrophic injuries.
The troops said that the number of casualties were confirmed according to initial reports received from where the operation precisely targeted.
The Somali National Army further noted that they will continue the operations against the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab so as to ensure the security and the stability of the country, while they called on the public to closely cooperate with the troops and participate in the ongoing fight against the extremist groups.
For the past few days, the Somali troops were conducting operations against Al-Shabab militants that are present in South and Central Somalia, while Turkish F-16 fighter jets supported the Somali troops by carrying strikes in the air.
