Somali troops conduct a planned operation against Al-Shabab militants in Wajid district

Units of Somali National Army (SNA) that are stationed in Wajid district in Bakool province conducted a planned operation in which they targeted the militant group of Al-Shabab who were hiding in El-Jedow settlement that is under the authority of Wajid district.

The operation had been carefully carried out and caused Al-Shabab members who were regrouping in the area to be flushed out.

Reports say that several Al-Shabab fighters were killed while others were wounded.

Commanders who led the operation said that they targeted positions in which the militant group of Al-Shabab were planning attacks against the local residents.

The Somali troops dismantled vehicles and military equipment belonging to the militant group of Al-Shabab.

The operation was part of the ongoing efforts which are aimed to eliminate Al-Shabab members from the country.

The Somali National Army (SNA) are working with local residents in the fight against extremist groups like Al-Shabab.
