The Deputy Commander of the 27th Division of the Somali National Army (SNA), Abdilahi Barre Elmi gave a full details of the fierce fighting which is underway in Aboorey settlement.
The Commander told the media that many senior Al-Shabab leaders and fighters were killed in the fighting between Somali troops and Al-Shabab militants.
He said: “We killed at least 8 senior Al-Shabab leaders in Aboorey settlement while most of them were foreign nationals. Two of those killed in the fighting, the U.S. placed millions of dollars’ worth bounties on their heads. One is a Kenyan national. He was responsible for connecting the militant group stationed in Somalia and Kenya.”
The Commander further said that the dead bodies of Al-Shabab fighters are scattered in the different parts of the villages in Aboorey settlement.
He promised that the Somali Army will soon bring an end to Al-Shabab militants that are fighting in Aboorey.
Abdilahi said: “The reason why the militant group are fighting very hard in parts of Aboorey villages is that they do not want their dead bodies to be recognized as U.S. placed millions worth bounties on their heads.”
The statement from the Deputy Commander of the 27th Division of the Somali National Army (SNA) comes at a time when fierce fighting is underway in Aboorey settlement for the second week as Somali troops are battling against the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab.
