The Somali Federal Gov’t in conjunction with U.S. Africa Command carried out an airstrike in Bari region, targeting ISIS members in Somalia.
A statement issued by the information ministry stated that the airstrike occurred on Tuesday morning and targeted ISIS militants and leaders who were regrouping in South east Bosaso.
The Somali Gov’t further pointed out that the airstrike was intended to support ground assaults conducted by Puntland security forces which are aimed at eliminating ISIS members in Somalia.
The statement went on to say that initial assessment of the operation indicates that ISIS members killed while there is no civilian harm.
The Somali gov’t reiterated its commitment to support Puntland security forces that conduct operations which are aimed at getting rid ISIS fighters.
It underscored to get the support from the U.S. and friends of the world.
The statement further added that the Somali gov’t in conjunction with U.S. Africa Command will continue the fight which is aimed at eliminating the terrorist groups like ISIS and Al-Shabab which pose a real threat to the security of Somalia and the world.
