Somali Gov’t confirms killing 40 Al-Shabab militants in Middle Shabelle province

More than 40 Al-Shabab militants were killed in a planned operations conducted in Wargaadhi and Labi Gooleey settlements in Middle Shabelle province.

According to a statement issued by the ministry of information, it has said that the operation took place after Al-Shabab militants launched an attack against gov’t troops in Wargaadhi.

The brave Somali troops and local forces who were on a high alert bravely foiled the attack in which the gallant Somali soldiers inflicted heavy casualties on Al-Shabab fighters.

At least 22 Al-Shabab fighters were killed in Waragaadhi settlement.

On the other hand, the Somali National Army (SNA) carried out an operation which took place in Labi Gooleey, which lies 13 km North West of Wargaadhi settlement.

The Somali troops killed 20 Al-Shabab fighters in an operation after they were trying to regroup in the area.

The situation in Wargaadhi is calm, but the confirmation of the number of casualties inflicted on the Somali enemy is underway.

The Somali Federal Gov’t expressed deep thanks and appreciations to the brave Somali soldiers who put their lives in line to defend the people and the country.

The Somali Federal Gov’t will share further information regarding the operations that the Somali army conducted against Al-Shabab militants.
