Somali Federal Gov’t keeping all eyes on Hiiraan province

The Somali Federal Gov’t is deploying massive troops on the outskirts of Buuloburde district in Hiiraan province so as to bring to an end the fighting which is underway in Aboorey settlement where the Somali National Army (SNA) are battling against Al-Shabab militants.

The Somali gov’t organized, mobilized and made ready units of Somali National Army (SNA) and Ma’awisley forces in Beledweyne, Buuloburde, Halgan, Moqokori and Maxaas and have all reached the frontline in Aboorey settlement. Other gov’t reinforcements reached Aboorey settlement from Galguduud and Middle Shabelle provinces.

Units of Danab Commandos on Monday relocated from Galguud and Middle Shabelle provinces are currently in Aboorey settlement who are part of the ongoing operations which are aimed at flushing out Al-Shabab militants from Aboorey settlement. Al-Shabab militants took control of Aboorey settlement on Sunday night which is under the administration of Buuloburde after the militants crossed Jicibow settlement using the Hawd of Beero-Yabaal settlement.

The objective behind Al-shabab militants reinforcing their presence in Aboorey settlement and later cross to the mountain areas in Yasooman settlement which is nearby to Aboorey. Al-Shabab’s mission is to take control of the road linking Yasooman, Moqokori and Maxaas district. The road is also open to Dac, Wabxo and Ceelbuur in Galguduud region. The Somali gov’t and the Somali Military Command reinforced the defense positions of the Somali troops stationed in Yasooman settlement. The Somali troops have one thing in mind which is to prevent Al-shabab militants to flee to the mountain areas.

The Somali troops are behind Al-Shabab militants fighting in Aboorey settlement. Officials of the Somali Federal Gov’t said that Al-shabab militants are looking for a route which is to bring reinforcements and logistics to Al-Shabab fighters based in Galmudug state. If need be reinforcements can reach from Al-Shabab militants based in Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle provinces. Somali Military Command on Wednesday deployed massive troops to the mountain areas between Buuloburde and Halgan towns.

The troops were deployed so as to prevent mobile al-Shabab militants to create insecurity in the road linking Buuloburde, Halgan and Beledweyne. The strategic war plan of the Somali Military Command is to prevent Al-Shabab to reinforce their presence in the mountain areas. It is believed that this would prolong the ongoing war wuth Al-Shabab. It will be a constraint to the operation liberations which is aimed to flush out Al-shabab militants from Hirshabelle and Galmudug states. Somali Army Chief, General Odowaa Yusuf Raage who was stationed in Middle Shabelle province reached Hiiran province on Tuesday.

He is working to foil Al-Shabab militants intention in which they are looking for a route. The top two offices in Somalia are closely monitoring the movements in the East of Hiiran region. Al-Shabab’s seizure of Aboorey settlement has made the Somali gov’t to keep all its eyes in the East of Hiiraan province. Al-Shabab militants sneaked into Hiiraan province so as to disrupt the National Security Plan in place which is aimed to flush out the militants from West of Hirshabelle state.
