Gov’t troops backed by Ma’awsiley local clan forces continue the offensive to dislodge Al-Shabab militants from Aboorey settlement in East of Hiran region.

The Somali National Army (SNA) on Tuesday attacked the militant group of Al-Shabab that briefly took control of the settlement.

Reports say that once the Somali troops make rapid advancements, Al-shabab militants launch counterattack and push the Somali troops back.

Aboorey settlement is located 30 km North of Buuloburde district.

Reports further say that one time Al-Shabab militants push back the Somali troops and vice versa.

This has made the fighting in Aboorey settlement to enter the third day running.

Sources say that Somali troops flush out Al-Shabab from the settlement, reinforcements reach Al-Shabab from Jicibow settlement.

Reports further confirmed that Al-Shabab reinforcements crossed the Hawd area of Beero-Yabaal.

It seems that Al-Shabab militants are risking life and limb and it does not seem that they are giving up with their intention to keep the settlement under their control.

Somali troops liberated the settlement from Al-Shabab militants three years ago but the group regained control of the strategic area a couple of days ago without encountering any resistance from the local forces.

Commanders of the Somali Military say that the fighting will continue until it is certain that Somali troops flush out the extremist groups from the area.

Somali National Army (SNA), Ma’awisley forces, NISA units and Danab Commandos are battling against the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of AL-Shabab.
