The Commander of the 18th Battalion of Gorgor Commandos, lieutenant Hassan Iraqi, has talked about the ongoing war against the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab while stationed in Wisil town in Mudug region.

The Commander Hassan Iraqi has spoken to hundreds of units of Somali National Army stationed in Wisil town.

He has revealed that there are regional administrations in Somalia that do not want to fight against Al-Shabab militants.

He said: ” There are Federal Member States that are not part of the war against Al-shabab. They want Al-Shabab to reach victory and we are fully aware of that. It is not something that we can listen. The Somali populace have a reached a decision and the decision is underway. It is aimed at eliminating Al-Shabab members from the country.”

However, the Commander has not specifically named the regional administrations that are dragging their feet and he levelled accusations against them.

He said that they do not want to defeat Al-shabab militants.

It is noteworthy that Hassan Iraqi was the Commander who led the Somali National Army that clashed with Jubaland forces in Raskamboni at the end of last year.

The Commander has urged politicians to work with Somali President who is currently waging war against the militant group.

He said that it is a top priority that politicians must throw their support behind the ongoing operations against Al-Shabab which are underway in the country.

Finally, the Commander has lauded the victory that men and women in uniform have reached when it comes to the ongoing war against the militant group.
