A senior Commander of Somali National Army (SNA), Mr. Moahmed Nur Jareere, on Thursday was killed in a landmine explosion, according to reports from Lower Shabelle region. He was the Force Commander of the 14 October Brigade which is based in Aw-Dheegle. Mr. Mohamed was travelling from Aw-Dheegle to Sabiib to deploy reinforcements to the Somali troops in Sabiib area which was under the attack from Al-Shabab militants.
His vehicle struck the IED placed on the road. Some of the soldiers with the Commander died while others were injured. Officials of the Somali Federal Gov’t and the Military Command send condolences over the death of the Commander. They said that he was a brave Commander that the Somali people lost.
