The Commander of the Somali National Army (SNA), Major General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud, accompanied by the SNA Land Forces Commander, General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, received Lieutenant General Michiel van der LaanโDirector General of the European Union Military Staff (EUMS) and Director of the Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC)โat his office.
The meeting focused on strengthening military cooperation, particularly regarding training, capacity building, and the development of the SNA’s capabilities.
Both sides also discussed opportunities to enhance the troops’ knowledge and skills, improve leadership and military planning capabilities, and further strengthen European Union support for the rebuilding and development of the SNA.
The SNA Commander thanked the European Union delegation for their visit and the support provided to Somalia, emphasizing the importance of sustained cooperation to advance the capabilities and quality of the SNA.
