The Puntland Armed Forces and Serious Crimes Court has announced the sentencing of seven menโcaptured by Puntland security forcesโwho were found to be members of the militant group Al-Shabaab.
Following proceedings that spanned several hearings, the court found the accused guilty of membership in Al-Shabaab; six of them were sentenced to 15 years in military prison each, while another was sentenced to 25 years in military prison.
The court sentenced Cabdulqaadir Cali Maxamed, Cabdinuur Axmed Cali, Yuusuf Cali Mataan, Cabdullaahi Cabdiraxmaan Cali, Maxamed Cabdikariin Jaamac, and Cumar Barkhadle Afrax to 15 years in military prison, while Xariir Axmed Xasan Bile was sentenced to 25 years in military prison.
