Senior al-Shabab leader surrenders to Somali gov’t forces

A senior leader of  militant group of al-Shabab surrendered on Friday to the Somali Gov’t forces stationed in Aw-Dheegle district in Middle Shabelle region.

Mr. Yacquub Ma’alin Ahmed joined the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-shabab 7 years ago while staying in Janaale.

Mr. Yacquub told the local media that he was the leader in charge of Mubarak settlement which is under the administration of Aw-Dheegle district.

He said that he could not tolerate the intensified operations conducted by gallant Somali troops which are aimed at eliminating Al-Shabab remnants.

He said that due to the pressure from the gov’t forces compelled him to finally surrender to the Somali troops.
