Somali Security Forces on Friday shot dead a suspected Al-Shabab member was planning to conduct assassination in Bardheere town. The suspected Al-Shabab member was armed with a pistol and later exchanged fire with security forces. Two local residents sustained injuries due to the crossfire.
The Commander in charge of Security in Bardheere town, Ahmed Abdilahi said that those injured in the crossfire were taken to Bardheere hospital to receive medical treatment. Ahmed Abdilahi said: ” We got an information in advance that the Al-Shabab assailant will carry out an assassination targeting residents who were breaking their fast in a public place. He tried to resist with a pistol and security forces shot him dead. Two residents were injured in the crossfire.”
The Commander in charge of security in Bardheere district has said that the security forces remains ready to foil Al-shabab plots against the local residents.
