Puntlandโs maritime and ground forces (PMPF) conducted a planned operation off the coast of Dharin-baar in the Bandar-beyla district, successfully rescuing the vessel *MT HONOUR 25*, which had been held captive by pirates.
During the operation, PMPF forces secured the vesselโwhich was sailing under the flag of Palauโand apprehended all the pirates accused of carrying out the hijacking. A report on the operation confirmed the safety of the ship’s crew and its cargo, noting that no harm came to the personnel on board.
The *MT HONOUR 25* is an oil tanker, and it was reportedly carrying a shipment for Somali merchants. This operation is part of the PMPFโs ongoing efforts to ensure security along Puntlandโs coast, specifically by combating piracy and armed groups that threaten maritime vessels and trade.
The PMPF stated that they remain constantly vigilant in maintaining maritime and land security, protecting Puntlandโs borders, and safeguarding the public and their property. The release of the MT HONOUR 25 comes at a time when the waters off the coast of Somalia remain under close scrutiny due to the threat of piracy, particularly regarding commercial vessels traversing the area.
