Puntland minister dies of coronavirus in Mogadishu



Puntland’s minister of environment, agriculture and climate change, Ismail Dirie Gamadid, has succumbed to complications arising from Covid-19. The minister who was battling with the deadly novel coronavirus was airlifted to Mogadishu and died in a hospital in Somalia’s capital on Monday. Covid-19 has badly damaged the minister’s respiratory system. The Late Ismail was one of the senior ministers who served in president Deni’s cabinet. He worked for Somalia’s education minister in the 1970’s. He moved to New Zealand and later settled in Australia during the civil war.
