Puntland defense forces on Tuesday killed more than 35 ISIS fighters including foreign fighters. The operation was conducted in between Togga Miiraale and Baalade settlements in Bari region as reported by the officials.
The Commander who was leading the operation told the media that ISIS corpses have been displayed. Those ISIS fighters killed during the operation tried to escape in the mountain areas that they were hiding.
The defense forces demolished weapons and equipment that they were using. Baalacade settlement which is close to Bosaso is believed to be a strategic area for ISIS group in which they were regrouping, and escaped from airstrikes and ground assaults.
The new operation coincides after Puntland defense forces seized ISIS Command in Togga Miiraale, which was strategic for ISIS group. Puntland intensified operations against ISIS in which the group train, plan and carry out terrorist attacks. Officials pledged to eradicate ISIS remnants in order to restore stability of the region.
