Puntland defense forces on Thursday dated May 15, 2025, carried airstrikes and ground operations in Guryo Samo settlements in Al-Miskaad Mountain Range in Bari region.
It is confirmed that senior ISIS leader named Ahmed Muuse Siciid known as Beeldaaje, who was responsible for foreign relations particularly bringing foreign nationals to ISIS has been killed in the operation. Puntland State Minister for presidency, Abdifatah Mohamed Nuur who gave an interview to the BBC Somali has confirmed that the ISIS leader was killed in the operation. He told that Ahmed Muse Said was responsible for recruiting ISIS members selected from clans in Puntland.
He further pointed out that the operation which resulted the death of the senior leader took place in Togga Miiraale. He further said that the security agencies and int’l agencies were looking for him for quite some time as he was in charge of a key position which posed a threat to the peace in the region.
The Minister further indicated that the killing of Ahmed Muse Said is a huge blow to ISIS and will not recover from his lose. He is the first senior leader killed once Puntland launched operations dubbed Hillaac in December which was aimed to drive out ISIS members from regions in Puntland.
ISIS leader Ahmed Muse Beeldaaje hails from Puntland particularly from Bari region. He grew up in the UAE while he polished up his language skills, honed his diplomatic experience, and the relationship with foreign networks that has made him to be an important person within ISIS.
