The spokesman of operations which are aimed to combat ISIS dubbed Hillaac, General Mohamed Ahmed Faadhigo on Tuesday has confirmed that Puntland has purchased four war planes which will be used in operations in order to combat ISIS groups that are stationed in Al-Miskaad Mountain Range in Bari region.

He told the local media that the acquisition of the war planes is part of the efforts which are intended to improve the quality of Puntland defense forces.

He added that the war planes will take part in the airstrikes and reconnaissance of the defense forces of Puntland.

He declined to give further details where Puntland has bought the war planes.

He revealed that Puntland used its money to purchase the war planes, and strongly repudiated that a foreign country has assisted Puntland to acquire the war planes.

He disclosed that Puntland wants to use the war planes in order to reach remote areas that are hard for the infantry soldiers to reach and is a safe haven for ISIS remnants.

He stated that the war planes will be participating in carrying out the airstrikes once the fourth phase of Hilaac operations commence in which Puntland President is due to announce.

He further added that Puntland soldiers will be trained when it comes to the use of the war planes.

However, the acquisition of the war planes coincides at a time when Puntland has halted operations against ISIS while Puntland forces have failed to drive out ISIS fighters from Togga Miiraale.
