The Specially trained security forces under the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) last night nabbed two Al-Shabab operatives. The operation took place in Afgoye district in Lower Shabelle province.
NISA said in a statement that the two Al-Shabab members sneaked into Afgoye district and were fugitives who were hiding from the security agencies. One of the Al-Shabab members was responsible for collecting and extorting illegal money from the residents. The other Al-shabab operative who was nabbed in the operation was a member of Al-Shabab’s secret service dubbed Amniyat.
NISA went on to say that he was busy gathering information on the security forces of the Somali gov’t and planning assassinations. The apprehension of the two Al-Shabab members who were responsible for extorting illegal money follows a security alert issued by NISA on July 20, 2025.
It was testified that the collection and paying the illegal money with the intention of financing the terrorists which are against the country’s and int’l laws.
Therefore, NISA once again sent a stern warning to business communities and the Somali populace by urging not to wire illegal money in order to finance terrorists. The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) reminds the Somali populace to immediately contact security agencies if they are faced with fear and pressure. The Somali Federal Gov’t is committed to eradicate terrorist groups which pose a threat to the national security.
