The Somali National Army (SNA) recently captured Sabiid and Anole settlement after they dislodged from Al-Shabab. Reports say that the situation in Sabiid and Anole remains calm. Local residents who were displaced in the recent armed clashes between Somali troops and Al-Shabab fighters have commenced to return back to their residential homes. There is a damage when it comes to the infrastructure in the settlement due to the conflict.
The bridge that runs through Sabiid and Anole settlement has been damaged after Al-Shabab demolished using explosives. However, they said that the damage of the bridge will not have an impact in returning to their homes safely in the settlement. The situation remains calm and large number of security forces could be seen who are patrolling the settlement.
The security forces called on the residents to stay calm and peacefully remain indoors. They promised to the local residents that the security forces will not retreat from Sabiid and Anole settlement, but pledged that they will reinforce their presence in order to maintain the security.
On the other hand, the Commander of Ground Forces of the Somali National Army (SNA), General Sahal Abdullahi Omar who is currently stationed in the frontlines in Lower Shabelle province particularly in Sabiid and Anole settlement has commended the victory that the Somali troops reached in regard to the war with Al-Shabab.
He told that the security forces will exert efforts to retake all areas that they previously vacated. He pointed out that many areas that have been taken over which the Somali troops withdrew including Sabiid and Anole was under Al-Shabab’s control. Al-Shabab destroyed the bridge using explosives although the Somali troops took over the settlement.
It seems that the Somali National Army (SNA) are committed to restore stability in the settlement in Lower Shabelle province while they are engaged that life returns to normal.
