The local defense forces that are operational in Harardheere town in Mudug province on Monday conducted a planned operation that took place in areas nearby Jowle settlement.
The Somali gov’t said that three Al-Shabab militants were killed in the operation who committed horrific atrocities against the local residents.
The corpses of the three Al-shabab militants were displayed. Harardheere district governor, Asayr Ibrahim Mataan told that the operation was carried out in line with the way it was planned. He said that the local defense forces were on high alert to maintain the security in the district.
He further disclosed that the measures are part of the constant efforts which are aimed to combat terrorist groups who are hiding in the province. Nomads who are living in areas in Jowle settlement played a crucial role in the operation.
They have shared the information to the local defense forces the presence of Al-Shabab militants in the settlement that led the operation to succeed. This is a clear indication that there is a cooperation between the defense forces and the local residents.
The local defense forces carry out operations on a regular basis to ensure peace while targeting the militant group of Al-shabab who are stationed in the rural areas in settlements that are under Harardheere town.
It is believed that the achievements of the operations are part of the confidence and the support of the local residents are providing to the local defense forces.
However, Harardheere district authority and the local residents are adamant to continue the fight against the militant group of Al-Shabab.
It is pointed out that the cooperation between the local residents and the defense forces is crucial to the peace and the overall stability of Mudug province while it is pledged to flush out the enemy from settlements in the region.
