Reports from El-Buur district in Central Somalia’s Galguduud region, confirmed that local clan forces known as Ma’awisley launched an attack, storming Al-Shabab base in Biyo-Adde which is a rural area.
The local clan forces carried out a pre-dawn attack targeted militant base that the group uses to conduct attacks on civilian communities.
According to a press statement, the local forces inflicted heavy casualties on the extremist group although details of the casualties remain sketchy.
It is reported that the well-coordinated operation was carried out successfully.
Several Al-Shabab fighters were killed. Tension is running high where the local clan forces stormed Al-Shabab’s base.
The operation is part of the ongoing efforts which are aimed at weakening the operational capacity of the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab.
