Mogadishu–Somali National Army , particularly the elite Danad commandos on Monday conducted military operation in conjunction with Jubaland Dervish Forces in Jamame district, lower Jubba region.
The joint military operation targeted several areas including Muse Haji, Malaayley, Bandar Jadiid and Haraare.
According to reports, several al-shabab fighters were killed during the operation and their hideouts were destroyed.
Commanders who were leading the operation did not specifically stated the number of al-shabab casualties.
Officers further told the local media that the joint anti-terrorism operations will continue which are aimed at flushing out al-shabab fighters from its stronghold in Jubaland.
The mission is to weaken the capability of al-shabab militant group and its presence in the region.
