According to reports, ISIS has been seen carrying out movements in the Al-Miskaad Mountains in the Bari region. This comes after the majority of Puntland troops withdrew from the frontlines in the area. Sources from the region have reported that ISIS fighters have reappeared in areas where they had previously fled from, taking advantage of the security vacuum created by the withdrawal of Puntland troops. Security sources have also revealed that ISIS has been utilizing their covert networks responsible for logistics and food supplies, making recent movements in the Baallade settlement and sending various types of food to areas between Marmarka and Walisoor. Additionally, units responsible for planting landmines have resurfaced, with a recent incident in Curaar resulting in the death of eight soldiers due to a landmine explosion. This has raised concerns about the security situation in the region. The latest information from security sources indicates that there are currently 263 ISIS fighters present in the Al-Miskaad Mountain area. These movements have been documented in a large area between the well known as Madaah, which is located 40 km from Yalho, and the well Shankaalo in Togga Baallade. This shows that the group has reopened logistic routes in Marmarka and is remobilizing supporters who were previously hiding in the community. On the other hand, reports from nomads have stated that ISIS has forcibly taken a large number of livestock from them during the holy month of Ramadan. In Indhacaday, three families had 217 livestock taken from them. Some of these livestock were seen being watered in the well of Madaah, indicating the constant movement of the group in crucial wells. The wells that the group has returned to and previously occupied include Miraale, Shakaalo, Madaah, Canjeela, Sabax Sabax, Afka Haqay, Dalaas, and Qaraj. In the past week, reports from Walisoor have stated that between 30 and 50 livestock have crossed into the area, destined for Baallade. However, troops conducting surveillance have confirmed that the livestock did not reach their destination and instead nomads were forcibly evicted from their settlements. Security experts have warned that this new movement by the group could lead to ambush attacks and an escalation of landmine attacks on roads.
