Hirshabelle minister dies of COVID-19 in Mogadishu

The State Justice Minister for Hirshabelle state Khalif Mumin passed away on Sunday in Mogadishu due to complications of COVID-19.

He was transferred from Jawhar, the administrative seat of Hirshabelle state and was placed a quarantine center in Mogadishu.

Hirshabelle chief of staff at the presidency Abdikadir Abdulle has announced the death of the minister.

The minister was referred to Martini hospital hospital isolation facility last week.

The minister was ailing at a hotel in Jawhar for ten days.

The minister is reported to have attended a cabinet meeting weeks before he fell ill.

He is the second person to have succumbed to COVID-19 pandemic in Somalia.
