Puntland police on Saturday confirmed that Mr. Abdikani Suleiman Jama alias Sayloor who was a member of the militant group of Al-Shabab was nabbed in a settlement nearby Bacaadweyne in the South of Mudug province in Galmudug state.
The arrested man was sentenced to death after he absconded from a prison that locates in the North of Galkayo in August, 2024. Puntland police said that the man was fugitive and was hiding in a settlement in Galmudug state. Mr. Sayloor was among two individuals who were accused of murdering a journalist named Jamal Farah Adan in Galkayo on the 1st of March, 2024.
He was among four Al-Shabab inmates who absconded on the 5th of August, 2024 from a prison in Galkayo while he was supposed to be executed after a court convicted him for the murder of the journalist.
Reports say that Galmudug administration has handed over Mr. Sayloor to Puntland police while the two regional administrations have a security cooperation. Sayloor who appeared in a video last year was disseminated in the social media repudiated that he was a member of Al-shabab militants. He argued that he was never joined the militant group of Al-shabab.
Mudug Provincial authority expressed thanks to Galmudug Security agencies for the hand over of Mr. Abdikani Sayloor who is sentenced to death by a court, and who absconded from Puntland security agencies.
