Danab Commandos of the Somali National Army in collaboration with Jubaland security forces reportedly carried out a planned security operation in several areas on the outskirts of Jilib District in Middle Jubba region.
A report provided by the military officers to state-media stated that at least seven locations occupied by the al-Qeada-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab were destroyed in the area while the Somali troops confiscated military equipment belonging to Al-Shabab militants.
Military officers further asserted that the Gambaale area was among the areas where Al-Shabab militants set up the biggest bases- and was among the areas that the operation specifically targeted.
The Military Command further disclosed that the operation is part of the ongoing efforts in bolstering the security in Jubaland areas, and further pledged to continue such operations against the militant group of Al-Shabab that are ongoing in the Middle Jubba region.
The officers did not provide further reports on the number of casualties resulting from the operation against Al-Shabab militants.
