Ethiopian Premier Abiy confers Chinese President Xi Jinping

Addis Ababa  September  02/2018 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has conferred with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chairman of National People’s Congress (NPC) Li Zhanshu.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who is in Beijing to attend the Forum on China- Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), continues to discuss on the sidelines of the forum with leaders of different countries on wide range of bilateral issues.

Prime Minister Abiy said “China has made a great contribution to the development of Ethiopia.”

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the government of China for its invaluable role in pressing forward the economic growth and remains a close ally of Ethiopia.

The Premier stated that Ethiopia is committed to further forge its cooperation and alliance with China in multi-faceted areas in the future.

Chinese President Xi Jinping appreciated Ethiopia’s effort in transforming its strategic relationship with China.

He reiterated that China will continue strengthening its ties with Ethiopia.

President expressed that the Forum on China- Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), would create opportunity to bolster relations between Africa and China.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has conferred with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on bilateral and regional issues.

The two leaders have discussed about the forum, issues related to further cement the ties in both bilateral and multilateral fields.

The Premier arrived in Beijing yesterday to attend to attend the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) scheduled to take place on 3-4 September 2018.
