GAROWE– The Ethiopian Airlines on Monday has landed at Garowe airport on its first maiden flight to Puntland. A ceremony to mark the commencement of Ethiopian airlines flights from Addis Ababa to Garowe held at General Abshir airport in Garowe. The president of Puntland, Mr. Said Abdilahi Deni said that the flight will facilitate linking Puntland with the rest of the world. Mr. Deni stated that the Ethiopian airlines flights came following efforts made by his regional authority. Ethiopian Airlines commenced flights to Mogadishu in the first place but again it launched its three day flights to Garowe which is part of Somalia. Ethiopian Airlines started direct flights from Addis Ababa to Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland which seceded from Somalia in 1991.
