Ethiopian airlines on Saturday resumed flights to Hargeisa, Somaliland after two day hiatus over the outbreak of Corona Virus disease.

The Ethiopian airline flight from Addis Ababa has arrived at Egal airport today.

Passengers who were traveling to Somaliland or were leaving breathed a sigh of relief after the airline has resumed its daily flights to Somaliland.

Somaliland gov’t issued preventive measures aimed at preventing the spread of novel Corona Virus outbreak around the globe.

Somaliland banned int’l flights from Korea, Italy, Spain, Iran, Kenya and Somalia but it does not ban flights from Ethiopia.

Yesterday, Somalia’s airspace authority ordered Fly Dubai flight not to land at Hargeisa airport and the plane carrying passengers destined for Hargeisa was directed to return back to Dubai.

Somalia’s transport and civil aviation ministry  has issued a new directive lifting the ban of int’l flights on temporary basis lasting for two days.

The press statement cited that Somalia lifted the ban so that passengers stranded at int’l airports could safely return back home.

It is notified that the int’l flights would be suspended after two days.

The ban on int’l flights will be effective until 15th of April, 2020.

Consignments of medical supplies or food rations are allowed to arrive in Somalia.
