A high level meeting was held in Gabiley which saws the attendance of Somaliland’s Police Commissioner, and the Army Chief. Ethiopia’s top brass military officers led by the Commander of Operations of Ethiopia’s Defense forces also attended the meeting.
The Police Commissioner of Ethiopia’s Somali region flanked by the Deputy Commander of Hararghe Zone were also in attendance. The meeting focused on the overall peace and strengthening the working cooperation between the two armies in order to ensure lasting stability in the region.
The two sides also discussed the recent fighting in Da’awalay and the pacification efforts underway there. The officials attended the meeting reached an understanding to expedite the working cooperation between the two countries, to work together in order to strengthen the security, and the peace in the border areas between the two countries.
Gabiley regional governor and top brass military officers from the two sides attended the meeting. Somaliland and Ethiopia share borders and cooperate on security, the fight against terrorism, and intelligence sharing to combat crime.
